Andrew

correspondent of the Roman popes (Felix III and Gregory the Great)
Otherwise little attested; known chiefly as the recipient of four surviving papal letters, in the registers attributed to Pope Felix III (pope 483-492) and Pope Gregory the Great (pope 590-604). "Andrew" (Andreas) was a very common name in late antiquity, and the figure (or figures) addressed here cannot be securely identified from the correspondence alone: he was probably a cleric, bishop, or lay official within the papal sphere of communication active somewhere in the later fifth to early seventh century. Because the two collections are separated by roughly a century, this name may even conflate more than one correspondent. No specific dates, office, or seat can be assigned without fabrication.
