Simeon was bishop of Chalcis, the Syrian city also known as Qenneshrin, and a correspondent of Severus of Antioch. The letters preserved as I.37 and I.38 show Severus urging him to resolve disciplinary trouble involving monks, clergy, and canonical inhibitions with both firmness and respect for Simeon's age and authority.
