Letter 9025: It pleases me that Your Greatness has noticed my devotion.

It is pleasing to me to promulgate the gifts of letters to Your Greatness, because the honor is not so much displayed to your birth and your conscience as returned to it. It is just that a man of religious profession should venerate a holy widow and that a freeborn man should venerate a noble one. I give thanks to my God, because the good odor of your reputation has emanated to us. May he grant fruit unto the consummation of life who has planted a good root in this worldly sojourn. You have done well, Lady Agnella, in spurning the blandishments of this world, and while you pursue higher things, in not accepting even what could have come from lawful remedies: you knew how to seek not merely pardon but a crown. Let the sick rejoice in their medicine: the one who is granted the grace of happily unlearning allurements is close to wholeness. Therefore, my lady, paying the grace and honor of greeting, I ask that for me — your friend and kinsman — you never cease to supplicate at the thresholds of the apostles, that I may deserve to keep what I preach and not myself neglect what I extol in others.
