Letter 10057

Gregory the Great (Wisigothic)Unknown|gregory great
From: Gregory the Great, Pope, in Rome
To: Secundinus and John, bishops
Date: ~600 AD
Context: Gregory again commends the ex-prefect Gregorius to two bishops.

Gregory to Secundinus and John, bishops.

I write to both of you jointly in commendation of the ex-prefect Gregorius. I have described his situation and my reasons for commending him in separate letters; here I simply ask that both of you give him your support and advocacy as circumstances require.

Two bishops speaking on behalf of a deserving person carry more weight than one. I ask you to exercise that combined influence on his behalf.
