My dear friends, I commend to you Hilarius, who carries this letter. He is known to us and is a man deserving of your assistance and hospitality. The journey he is undertaking carries our purpose and our prayers with it. Please receive him with the warmth I have always found in the Frankish nobility, and give him whatever assistance his errand requires.
