Letter 729

To the Same Persons. Everyone who is warred upon by the devil, let him take refuge in the Savior, in Christ alone, where the warfare waged against our life cannot, for all its pursuit, overtake him; for Scripture says: "Because you, O God, have become my helper, and a strong place of salvation, and a tower of strength against the face of the enemy." [Psalm 30:3-4 LXX, numbered 31:2-3 in most modern Bibles]

Πᾶς ὁ πολεμούμενος ὑπὸ τοῦ διαβόλου, πρὸς τὸν Σωτῆρα καὶ μόνον καταφευγέτω Χριστόν, ὅπου ὁ πόλεμος τῆς ζωῆς ἡμῶν οὐ δύναται καταδιώκων φθάσαι, « Ὅτι σὺ ὁ Θεός, φησίν, ἐγενήθης βοηθός μου, καὶ τόπος ἰσχυρὸς σωτηρίας, καὶ πύργος ἰσχύος ἀπὸ προσώπου ἐχθροῦ. »
