To Herculian.

You have not kept your promise, my dear friend — the promise that you would not reveal things that should remain hidden. I have just spoken with people who came from you. They told me things I shared with you in confidence, which you were not supposed to repeat. This is not the conduct of a philosopher. Guard your tongue as carefully as your thoughts — the one is worthless without the other.

Modern English rendering for readability. See the 19th-century translation or original Latin/Greek for scholarly use.
