Aemenius

monk
Aemenius is known only as the recipient of six short letters from Nilus of Ancyra (d. c. 430), addressed in one of them explicitly as "Aemenius the Monk." The letters are brief spiritual exhortations in the mode of ascetic direction: Nilus praises his chastity and purity, likening him to the prophet Elijah; commends meekness through the example of Moses; cites the Psalms on release from the passions of the demons, and Jacob's vow as the pattern of the monastic life; and affirms his words on impiety as a grievous disease. Beyond this correspondence within the early-5th-century Ancyran monastic milieu of Galatia, he is otherwise unattested.
