Alkimos
Ἀλκίμῳ
correspondent of Libanius|Antioch (region; uncertain)
Alkimos (Greek Alkimos, here in the dative Alkimoi) is known chiefly as one of the many correspondents of the sophist and rhetorician Libanius of Antioch (c. 314-393 AD), who received five surviving letters from him. Beyond this epistolary attestation little is securely known about him: like numerous figures in Libanius's vast correspondence, he was probably a member of the educated provincial elite of the later fourth-century Greek East, plausibly a former student, fellow rhetor, or local official connected to Libanius's circle around Antioch. No specific offices, dates, or biographical events can be confirmed for him from the surviving evidence, and any reconstruction of his career would be conjectural.
