Letter 12020

Gregory the Great (Wisigothic)Unknown|gregory great
From: Pope Gregory I
To: Maurentius, Master of Soldiers
Date: ~602 AD
Context: Gregory asks Maurentius to send a letter to Aroges about helping transport timber to the sea for Savinus the subdeacon

I need a small but important favor. I am asking you to send a letter to Aroges asking him to assist Savinus, our subdeacon, with the transport of beams to the sea. The construction project Savinus is managing requires this timber, and the logistics of getting it to the coast require the kind of coordination that your authority can facilitate. A letter from you to Aroges will accomplish what a request from us alone might not. Please send it promptly.
