Although by the duty of our office we can by no means keep silent about matters of such weight, yet the most serene prince, by the sacred communications he has directed to us, has more strongly inclined our spirit to this course, from which we have dispatched legates willingly. And because affairs of this kind ought to be relieved by the help of the whole Church, greeting your eminences with fitting salutation, we ask that you labor for the ecclesiastical peace and support the efforts of the legates who have been sent, with the support of the most serene prince. For the labor of your eminence will not lack a great reward, when you have caused us to give thanks to almighty God for what your perseverance has accomplished on behalf of the Lord.
