Letter 683

LibaniusΚυρίλλῳ|libanius

To Kyrillos. (361/62)

Marcianus, on whose behalf I write, is my fellow citizen, an old friend, no stranger to letters, and he has a son studying with us who is eager for learning.

I am fully confident that this Marcianus will prove his worth to you through his conduct. But let him also receive some honor on account of his connection with me, so that he may feel grateful partly for his own character, and partly for my letter.

Modern English rendering for readability. See the 19th-century translation or original Latin/Greek for scholarly use.
