Letter 12037

Gregory the Great (Wisigothic)Unknown|gregory great
From: Pope Gregory I
To: Romanus, Defender; Anthemius, Subdeacon; and Savinus
Date: ~602 AD
Context: Gregory writes jointly to three of his officers in Sicily with coordinated instructions

Brothers, I am writing to all three of you together because the tasks I need accomplished in Sicily require your coordinated action. Each of you has a distinct role, and what I am asking of you can only be accomplished if you work in concert rather than independently. Read this letter together, divide the responsibilities I describe according to your respective capacities, and agree among yourselves on how to proceed. Report back to me jointly on your progress.
