Letter 208: I am sending you what you asked for, though not without misgivings.

To Priscianus. (360?) I am not unaware how great a mass of business surrounds you, nor that you have proven and continue to prove yourself master of it. Indeed, someone came reporting the punishment exacted from those who arrived to carry out the condemnation. So I congratulate you not only on governing with virtue, but also on the honor you have received from the powerful. Agianus, knowing how matters stood between us, thought that if he did not carry a letter, he would wrong us both -- the one who had not written and the one who had not received. That is why he came to us asking for letters, and he delighted me not because he was pleased with the office he had been assigned to administer, but because he would be with you. It seems to me he would not even have accepted the appointment had he not been drawn by this enticement. The hope is that this man, long your friend and now choosing to sail in your ship, will complete the voyage in good spirits.
