O good Timothy, I have always known you to be a lover of God, a lover of your father, well-disposed, of one soul with us, without guile, a keeper of the household, full of fellow-feeling toward our blessed father, toward me the sinner, and toward the most God-beloved archbishop. Show, then, in the present matter the works of your power, of your friendship, of your good faith, of your reverence for God, of your zeal for God. To what end is this? That you may not give sleep to your eyes, nor take any rest whatsoever, until you reach the most God-beloved archbishop. Labor together with him, my beloved child; strive together with him; set a seal upon the things now past by those who have already gone before. For thus you will be well-pleasing to the Lord, and thus you will also heal me the sinner, only departing carefully and with vigilance and reaching him, and delivering also my letters. Pray for me always, longed-for child.
