Letter 7019: Item ad Flavum et Euodium

XIX. Item ad Flavum et Euodium
To Flavus and Euodius

How well it suits those whom one father raised together — if at the same time one heart holds them both! Flavus and Euodius, born from the same flesh — our flesh [Fortunatus speaking as a spiritual brother] covers them both with one love. In seeing one, the other is seen by me; the image of the brother has given the brother's appearance.

From the face of the one the face of the second is known to me — as a reflected form shows its like in a mirror. So, giving equal greetings with equal prayers, I will be a third and alternate between you both: wishing that those whom one dear embrace holds together — three loves as one — let also this page bind us together.
