Reader Timotheos
reader (lector) and correspondent of Isidore of Pelusium|Pelusium
Otherwise little attested; known chiefly as a recipient of six letters from Isidore of Pelusium, the early-fifth-century ascetic and biblical commentator. His title "Reader" (Greek anagnostes, lector) marks him as a member of the minor clergy whose duty was to read Scripture aloud in the liturgy. He was most likely active in or around Pelusium in the eastern Nile Delta during the first half of the fifth century, the milieu of Isidore's correspondence; nothing further about his life, career, or dates can be established with confidence from the letters alone.
