From: King Witigis of Italy
To: The Prefect of Thessalonica
Date: ~536 AD
Context: Witigis writes to a Byzantine provincial official asking that his ambassadors be expedited onward to Constantinople without delay.

With God's blessing, I have dispatched our ambassadors to the most serene Emperor, and through them it was necessary to send greetings to Your Magnitude — since your rank and wisdom deserve the pleasure of our correspondence. I hope that Your Excellency will ensure they suffer no delay, since you can see I have sent them in haste. Attach your good offices to our cause, so that we may benefit from your help if we learn they have arrived without obstruction.
